Mix media is the core of my creative
process incorporating recycled items in a controlled, but expressive and
colorful manner. Mix media is the combination of different media to create art.
Ink, acrylic, oil, color pencil, matte medium, and wood stain are examples of
mix media and were used to create my series of portraits. Along with mix media
recycled items play a major role in the process, instead of traditional
stretched canvas I use any recycled surface that can be manipulated with mix
media. For example pallets, doors, plywood, scrapped wood, plastic bottle tops,
labels, etc.
